Change of plans

For the 1st year of the Tour De Chenango (TDC), and due to some personal conflicts, this year the TDC is not going to be a 4-day tour.. instead, I'm planning on one day a month over a 4 month period to conduct the 4 day TDC.  Here are the planned dates - and they'll be here before we know it.

Day 1 - July 18 (Saturday)
Day 2 - August 15 (Saturday)
Day 3 - September 13 (Sunday)
Day 4 - October 18 (Sunday)

If you see the post before this one, you can see the day totals.. all great rides!

I'm planning on making up a custom TDC 2015 jersey for those of us that complete all four days of this "prototype" year.

Hoping people can make it!  If you are planning on attending, please shoot me an email at Airstreamnut@gmail.com

2015 Tour de Chenango estimated totals

With only one more day of Route Recons left (Day 4 - the south east quadrant of the county), this is how the 2015 Tour De Chenango is looking for totals.  Estimates are that over the 4 days there will be approximately 279.5 miles with a total elevation of 16832 feet.  Here's how (with Day 4 estimates using Strava) the days break down.

That's 4 tough days of riding!! Let's do it!  I'll update this once we ride the Route Recon in a week or so!

Day 3 Route Recon

21 September 2014 -Two of us rode Day 3 of the 2015 Tour De Chenango route - as a route recon.  It's a tough ride - totaling ~ 73.7 miles and ~ 4200 feet of climbing!  It starts right out climbing the West Hill out of Norwich... all the  climbing is nearly complete at the 40 mile point.  One finding is that there's a bridge crossing the Chenango River around the 44 mile point that has a nice sidewalk on it to use since it is a steel see-through bridge deck that is a little scary riding on.  Beautiful cruise up the Chenango Valley!  Here are some photos from the first 40 miles of the ride.
Riding west on County Route 10 near the 13 mile point.

On Route 5 just west of McDonough near the 21 mile point.

County Route 2 riding south near the 27 mile point

Day 2 Route Recon

A couple weeks ago we rode the Day 2 Course for the 2015 Tour De Chenango.  Great route!! A few changes from original thoughts... a little longer (`71.2 miles)  and a little more climbing (~4132ft), but well worth it!!  Here are a few pictures taken from the ride.

The Route Overview.
County Route 23 between North Norwich and Sherburne.

Castle Hill between Earlville and Sherburne.

Took some photos of County Route 16 yesterday to showcase some of the landscape.... it was a great day cycling.. our entire area offers views and roads like this that you'll experience on the Tour de Chenango... Enjoy!!  We'll be doing a Day 1 route recon this Saturday, August 16th to Strava the course - can't wait.
